What is Masters Lacrosse?

In British Columbia box lacrosse was huge in the 70s and 80s with thousands of kids playing across the province.  As players graduated form senior A to senior C there was a growing demand for a place to play with older players with a focus on getting together and BSing about past years and heckling the players on the field.

For over 20 years the players in the lower mainland have been gathering at the Gates field complex in Port Coquitlam.  Shortly after the club achieved 6 teams and 120 players a group created the Lower Mainland Masters Lacrosse club, with 4 box teams becoming 6 teams within two years.  Floor time was secured in Langley at the Langley Events Centre (LEC) complex during the winter, allowing indoor play in the winter, and the Field Lacrosse club moved their season to the summer.  This is opposite to the minor lacrosse seasons, but suits us old guys just fine.

The clubs send several teams to the Hawaii International Field lacrosse tournament every year, with 3 teams being sent this year under the Antiki's banner, and many players joining other lower mainland teams form ladner or the north shore in years past.

The skill level is varied, yes we have Canadian hall of fame players in the club and many Senior A and NLL players but we also have a large number of players who started playing when  their kids started playing, being in the club is about attitude first, and skill second.

if you are interested in joining one of the masters clubs, check out the contact list on the contacts page.
